New to Massachusetts?
Welcome to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts!
We offer our website as a source of information regarding Mass insurance.
Some of the great things about this state:
• Massachusetts has a tremendous variety of landscapes. From the beautiful,
mountainous Berkshires to the exciting, hustle & bustle of Boston.
• The state is one of the greatest centers for higher education, doctors and
hospitals in the world.
• Mass boasts of some of the greatest collegiate and professional sports
teams in the nation.
Massachusetts also, presently, is a very curious & peculiar state
insurance-wise. The state sets the auto insurance rate and property insurers
are fleeing from coastal areas. There is hotly contested debate over
auto insurance reform and
the state run MPIUA (Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting
Association) is, perhaps, over-burdened. Meanwhile, term
life
insurance rates continue to go down. So, again, welcome to the wonderful
(and sometimes whacky) world of Massachusetts! We hope that we are able to
assist you.
How to get Massachusetts Auto Insurance
In MA, insurance & your vehicle’s Registration go “hand-in-hand.”
You cannot have one without the other. Massachusetts is also a “Title state”
so in order to get new MA Plates you must also get a new Mass Title.
In order to get the insurance ball rolling, we recommend you get a
auto
quote from us. By utilizing MassQuotes.com, you will be accessing numerous companies and you will be
provided with different coverage & premium options by a licensed,
professional, independent insurance agent.
Your Mass Driving Record (& your Massachusetts insurance rate)
depends on your driving record including such variables as: how many years
you have been licensed (if less than three years then also whether or not
you have completed a certified Mass Driver’s Education Training Course),
over the past six years have you had any “at-fault” accidents or any moving
violations (speeding tickets etc.).
Massachusetts’ Safe Driver Insurance Plan (SDIP) rewards drivers with clean
driving records and ensures that drivers that collect surcharge points pay
more for auto insurance. SDIP is used by all Mass Auto Insurers and applies
to any policy that covers private passenger vehicles.
To help
determine your 2006 Massachusetts SDIP (Safe Driver Insurance Plan)
rating you may want to visit The Official Site for the Commonwealth of Massachusettss:
Compute your Operator SDIP Rating.
If you have further questions regarding the
Massachusetts Safe Driver Insurance Plan (SDIP) or your driving record we
recommend you call a Consumer Service Representative at the
Merit Rating Board at: 617-351-4400.
How to get a Massachusetts License
Massachusetts State Law suggests that an individual has thirty days after
establishing residency to turn in your old, out of state license, and get a
new license. In order to get a Mass license, out of state drivers will need:
out of state license, proof of residency (in the form of a lease agreement,
bank statement, utility bill etc.), social security card, and birth
Certificate. The cost presently is $90 for a five year license.
